- Benedict du Boulay
- Benedict du Boulay is an Emeritus Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sussex and Visiting Professor at University College London. He gained a BSc in Physics from Imperial College London (1966), a PGCE from University of Zambia (1968) and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh (1978). He worked in industry and as a school-teacher prior to his PhD and after it at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Sussex.
His primary research area is the application of Artificial Intelligence in Education. Here he is particularly interested in issues around modelling and developing students’ metacognition and motivation. He was President (2015-2017) of the International Society for Artificial Intelligence in Education and is an Associate Editor of its International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education. He has edited/written 12 books and written some 190 papers. This includes editing a Handbook of AI in Education due out in late 2022.
- Tamara Lynnette Clegg
- Tamara Clegg is an associate professor in the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland, where she is the director of the InfoDesign B.A. program. She also co-directs the Youth eXperience (YX) Lab. She received her Ph.D. from Georgia Tech’s College of Computing and her B.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University. Tamara’s work focuses on designing technology (e.g., social media, mobile apps, e-textiles, community displays) to support life-relevant learning where learners, particularly those from underrepresented groups in science, engage in STEM in the context of achieving personally relevant goals. She seeks to understand ways such learning environments and technologies support STEM disposition development. Tamara’s work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Studies, and Google.
- Kentaro Inui
- Kentaro Inui is a Professor at the Graduate School of Information Sciences at Tohoku University, leading the Tohoku Natural Language Processing (NLP) Group and the Natural Language Understanding Team at the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project. His career has spanned many topics in NLP and received awards, including EACL (Conference of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics) Outstanding Paper, AMT (International Conference on Active Media Technology) Best Paper, and Google AI Focused Research Award. He has served on the editorial board of Computational Linguistics, Editor in Chief of Journal of Information Processing, General Chair of EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019, and is currently Chairperson of the Association for Natural Language Processing, Japan.
